The CDF team is working on improving the quality of preschool education in Government Anganwadis by covering a total of 3420 centres. This initiative is supported by ILP and KKRDB in Kalaburagi district. The CDF team regularly visits Demo centres to assess progress and review with nine ICDS teams in Kalaburagi District.
Bala Mela Program and School Enrollment Campaigns
CDF organized Bala Mela programs in Sedam, Gurumitkal, and Kalaburagi Rural block. The programs were conducted at the Grama Panchayat level and were attended by Anganwadi children and their parents, with the support of Grama Panchayats and ICDS project staff. The children had a great time participating in singing, dancing, quizzes, and sports activities. More than 1000 Anganwadi centers participated in the events.
Similarly, in June-July, the CDF team organize enrollment and retention of children in schools through rallies, house-to-house visits and campaigns with the support of Schools, Grama Panchayats and local CSOs.
Preschool sessions’ mentoring support
CDF team visits anganwadis to observe PSE and provide mentoring support to strengthen preschool education quality.
Preschool Education Training and TLMs Development
CDF team periodically conducts phase-wise training with the support of ILP and KKRDB to supervisors so that they can conduct circle-level tracings for workers and helpers, and monitor the PSE progress in the field.
ToT and Mentoring support to the Supervisors
CDF is offering additional services including mentoring and hand-holding support to TOT supervisors who conduct Circle level training for Teachers and Helpers. They also provide technical support in developing TLMS and ensuring appropriate usage of TLMs in Preschool education.
Capacity building of NGOs PSE teams Across India
Through the support of the ILP program, CDF trains selected NGO teams in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh to enhance the quality of preschool education in their respective working areas. The teams are regularly evaluated and provided with guidance to ensure the effective implementation and progress of preschools in Anganwadis.
WASH Practices in Selected Grama Panchayats in Kalaburagi
With the support of UNICEF Hyderabad, we have initiated work to raise awareness and promote the practice of WASH-related habits among children, youth, women, and civil societies. We have conducted several awareness programs and formed a task force to oversee hygiene practices in Gram Panchayats. During and after the COVID pandemic, we have provided hand wash and information kits to task force members, as well as installed hand wash units in the premises of Gram Panchayats’ offices, schools, hospitals, and Anganwadis. We have also provided retrofitting support to Anganwadis.
Child Rights Club
CDF established Child Rights clubs in schools and communities. Regular meetings were organized to discuss related issues. Campaigns, Mela and competitions were held to sensitize various stakeholders.
Empowerment of youth and prevention of Child marriage practice
The CDF promoted youth groups in villages, with a special focus on adolescent girls, by providing them with vocational and life skills training. Through them, CDF conducted campaigns in villages and blocks to eradicate child labour and discourage such practices. Additionally, social action has been taken to address cases related to child labour and child marriage in the working blocks.
